Dear friends and family and prayer partners:
We are getting closer and closer to launching Harvest Bible Chapel Ashburn! Here is a quick update to inform your prayer.
People. Our core group continues to grow. We have 30 adults who are committed to help us get started. We’ve lined up leaders for worship, kids ministry, youth, small groups, facilities, and finances. This week we are starting two small groups with the hopes of multiplying more leaders and groups soon. The people God is leading to us to join in the effort are incredible. It is just incredible to see how he has worked in this area. Please pray that God continues to provide in this area, we need to get to at least 40 adults to pull off weekly services.
Place. We are close to making an agreement with a church that is on Loudoun County Parkway to use their facility on Sunday nights. They have a beautiful facility and have been very supportive of us. We are planning to have one service a month and then to go to weekly services in March or April. Our first worship service will be Sunday, January 28 at 5pm. We are praising God for this open door!
Provision. God has worked miracles in this area. Even though we’ve been on this crazy church planting path for about 18 months, our family has been in great shape financially. We are seeing our core group giving take off. We keep getting financial support from unexpected places. It just shows again that God can and will make a way to fulfill his calling. Praise God for his provision and pray that the final gap will be bridged as we prepare to launch.
Partners. More churches are getting behind us and helping us get started. It is such a great encouragement to see! I’ve always said that we want to plant a church that plants churches. We are feeling that same kind of support and know first hand how powerful the outside help can be. The Great Commission Collective (formerly Harvest Bible Fellowship) has really stepped up with coaching, interim elders, and financially. The Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia is a new partner. They’ve been huge in helping us administratively and financially. And several churches in the region remain a big help. “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!” (Ps 133:1) and like the Apostle Paul, I thank God with every remembrance for these “gospel partners” (Phil. 1:4-5).
Keep praying for us and supporting us. Help connect us with people in the area. We want to see a church started that glorifies God through the fulfillment of the Great Commission. It is serious and hard work. But as you can see from above, it is a work that God does. He blesses it and he makes it happen!
